Fostering Positive Family Involvement


ABSTRACT:

Learn ways to foster communication and family involvement that reduce negative interactions, increase customer satisfaction, and address regulatory requirements for support of resident and family groups.

OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will:

  1. Gain an understanding of actions the nursing staff can take to create a positive first impression for potential residents and families.
  2. Learn how an organized admission and orientation process can develop educated and empowered residents and families.
  3. Learn how involving residents and their family members supports the Cultural Change Value, “Relationship is the fundamental building block of a transformed culture.”
  4. Understand the Federal requirements that support the implementation and oversight of resident and family groups.
  5. Become proactive by encouraging resident and family involvement as a win-win situation.
