ABSTRACT:
This course will provide you with knowledge of the high-risk
clinical areas of hydration and nutrition for your residents. It will assist
in your understanding of potential negative outcomes associated with aging
and will provide you with actions for all levels of participants in a Nutrition
and Hydration Program.

OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able
to:
- Discuss 4 causes of dehydration and 4 causes of
malnutrition in elders.
- Describe 2 symptoms of dehydration and 2 symptoms
of malnutrition.
- Identify ways to increase an elder’s intake of fluid
and food.
- State the intent of F325 Nutrition and F327 Hydration.
- Explain
how the Culture Change Principle of Empowerment and related Culture
Change Values support steps to prevent dehydration and malnutrition.
