Learn ways to foster communication and family involvement that reduce negative interactions, increase customer satisfaction, and address regulatory requirements for support of resident and family groups.

OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Describe actions the nursing staff can take to create a positive first impression for potential residents and families.
  2. Discuss how an organized admission and orientation process can develop educated and empowered residents and families.
  3. State how involving residents and their family members supports the Cultural Change Value, “Relationship is the fundamental building block of a transformed culture.”
  4. Describe the Federal requirements that support the implementation and oversight of resident and family groups.
  5. Proactively encourage resident and family involvement as a win-win situation.
