OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

  1. Articulate the dying process, including stage theory and physical presentation.
  2. Specify the psychosocial impact a resident’s death has on other residents, team members, and families.
  3. Articulate the impact the home’s response to death has on other residents, team members, and families.
  4. Describe ways in which Culture Change can positively influence the death process in long term care.
  5. Describe how to maintain census while maintaining positive interpersonal relationships in the home.
